Can electrical suppliers handle utility authority approvals?

Some suppliers offer this. If your project needs utility approval, say so in the request and confirm with each supplier in the chat; Qotbox itself does not apply for approvals.

Does Qotbox take a commission on large electrical orders?

No, there is no commission, whatever the order size. Buyers pay only a small fee to publish a request, per day and per supplier reached, or through a package.

Before you request quotes

Approvals and standards in the UAE: Electrical work connects to the local authority's network: DEWA in Dubai, SEWA in Sharjah, and each other emirate's own authority. Many projects also follow a consultant's approved manufacturers list, and some products need a UAE conformity certificate. State the standard and any approved list in your request, so every quote is for equipment you can actually install.
Making quotes comparable: Ask every supplier to price the same items, line by line and to the same specification: cable size and length, breaker rating, generator rating and canopy. Copper moves cable prices from week to week, so ask how long each price is valid.
Lead times and stock: Common cable sizes, breakers and distribution boards are often in stock in the UAE. Large generators, transformers, main switchboards built to order and solar systems can take weeks. Ask for a lead time per item, and whether delivery in parts is possible.
Supply only, or supply and install: Say whether you need supply only, or installation, testing and commissioning too, and who provides the licensed contractor. A supply-only quote cannot be compared with a full installation.

What your request should include

Conductor material, cores, cross-section, insulation and armour
Required standard for cable or equipment
Approved manufacturers list, if your consultant has one
Breaker breaking capacity; kVA rating for generators and UPS
Lead time for each line item
