Are stretch ceilings quoted as supply and install?

Usually, because the film is cut to the room. Give the area and number of rooms, and ask each supplier in the chat whether a measuring visit is needed.

Do I need a fire-rated stretch ceiling film?

It depends on the project. If your building requires a fire-rated ceiling, state it in the request and ask suppliers for the test certificate of the film they propose.

Before you request quotes

Fire rating and approvals: Some buildings require ceiling materials with a fire rating approved by Civil Defence. Ask your consultant or building management what is required, put it in the request, and ask each installer for the certificate of the film they quote.
Making quotes comparable: Stretch ceilings are priced per square metre, but the perimeter profile, the cut-outs for lights, AC diffusers and sprinklers, and the finish change the total. Give the dimensions of each room, not only the total area, and ask every installer to list profiles, cut-outs and lighting separately.
Measured, then made: The film is cut to each room's exact size after a site survey, so allow time between measuring and installation. Ask each installer for the time from survey to finish, and whether the room must be cleared and painted first.
Warranty and care: Ask for the warranty in years on the film and on the installation, and whether it covers sagging and seams. If you choose a printed or backlit ceiling, ask for a sample of the print or the light before you confirm.

What your request should include

Material and finish: PVC or fabric, matte, satin, gloss or translucent
Dimensions of each room, not only total area
Number of lights, AC diffusers and sprinklers
Moisture or fire rating, if the space needs it
Printed design or backlighting, if required
